Duke Health Law Society

HLS’s Executive Board is in the process of planning several events for the upcoming school year.  Potential events include:

(1) a Debate between a Duke Law Professor and a Pharmaceutical Attorney on Pharmaceutical Patents;

(2) a Mental Health Panel;

(3) a Discussion of the Recent Healthcare Legislation; and

(4) a Discussion of Potential Careers within the Field of Health Law (to be given by a Former President of the Health Law Society).

Starting on September 7, 2010, HLS will begin hosting brown bag lunch discussions in the Star Commons on the first Tuesday of each month.  The topics will be selected by HLS’s Executive Board, and reading materials will be distributed via the listserv in advance of the discussions.  Any HLS members are welcome to attend and participate in these discussions.

HLS will be hosting its first meeting of the 2010-2011 school year to introduce new members to the group and to gauge interest in the planning of events for the upcoming year. The meeting will be taking place on September 6, 2010 at 12:15 pm in Room 4055.

In April 2010, the Health Law Society appointed its officers for the 2010-2011 academic school year.  Shaunda Helm, Sara Wexler, and Lauren Haertlein were appointed to the Executive Board of HLS and now hold the following positions:

Co-Chair, Director of Global Health Programming – Shaunda Helm
Co-Chair, Director of Domestic Health Programming – Sara Wexler
Co-Chair, Director of Bioethics Programming – Lauren Haertlein
